Fake Tool Plugin
A self-contained OpenClaw test plugin that registers a fake echo tool.
Install
openclaw plugins install clawhub:@nancymx-dev/openclaw-fake-tool-plugin@nancymx-dev/openclaw-fake-tool-plugin
A harmless OpenClaw test plugin. It registers one tool named
fake_tool_echo, which returns a predictable response without making network
requests, reading files, or changing system state. The package has no runtime
dependencies; OpenClaw supplies the api object to the entrypoint.
What is included
package.json: npm identity, GitHub metadata, OpenClaw compatibility, and package contents.openclaw.plugin.json: plugin manifest, activation, tool contract, and configuration schema.index.js: the runtime entrypoint that registers the fake tool.LICENSE: MIT license.
Local checks
Run these commands from this directory:
npm run validate:json
npm pack --dry-run
To validate with the ClawHub Plugin Inspector from the ClawHub checkout:
bun packages/clawhub/src/cli.ts package validate \
/path/to/openclaw-fake-tool-plugin \
--family code-plugin
To create the ClawPack tarball used for upload:
bun packages/clawhub/src/cli.ts package pack \
/path/to/openclaw-fake-tool-plugin \
--pack-destination .
Install after publishing
After the package is published under your nancymx-dev npm scope, install it
with:
openclaw plugins install clawhub:nancymx-dev/openclaw-fake-tool-plugin
Then inspect the runtime:
openclaw plugins inspect fake-tool-plugin --runtime --json
The expected tool response for input hello is:
fake: hello
The @nancymx-dev scope must exist on npm before a real npm-backed install or
publish can succeed. The local package and runtime checks do not require that
external account state.
