Security audit

Trello

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is a coherent Trello connector, but its setup instructions include unpinned remote installer commands that can execute code on the user's machine.

Review the setup path before installing. Prefer installing the oo CLI manually from trusted OOMOL documentation, verify what installer code will run, and only connect Trello with permissions you are comfortable granting. For use, confirm all write actions and double-check destructive actions before approval.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

Finding

The skill instructs the agent to install software via a remote script piped directly into a shell (curl ... | bash). This is dangerous because it executes unverified code fetched at runtime, allowing compromise if the remote host, transport, or script contents are malicious or tampered with; in an agent context, it can convert a missing dependency into arbitrary code execution.

Finding

The description says to use this skill for "ANY Trello request" and "Whenever a task involves Trello, use this skill," which is an extremely broad activation condition for a markdown skill description. It does not provide scope limits or negative examples, so ordinary mentions of Trello could cause unintended invocation.
