Security audit

Slack Bot

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The Slack Bot skill is mostly coherent, but it should be reviewed because its setup instructions execute web-fetched installer scripts directly on the user's machine.

Review the installer path before installing. Prefer a verified package-manager or signed installer for the oo CLI, and confirm any Slack write or delete action payload before allowing the skill to run it.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

External Script Fetching

High
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

The skill instructs users to install software via a remote script piped directly into a shell, which executes unreviewed network-fetched code immediately. If the install endpoint, transport, hosting, or upstream release process is compromised, this can lead to arbitrary code execution on the user's machine.

Finding

The phrase 'Use this skill for ANY Slack Bot request' is extremely broad and does not specify what distinguishes a Slack Bot request from general Slack tasks. Without narrower scope, examples, or exclusions, the skill could be invoked unintentionally for unrelated or ambiguous Slack operations.
