Notion

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Notion skill is mostly coherent, but its first-time setup tells the agent to execute remote installer scripts without verification.

Review the installer path before installing. Prefer installing the oo CLI from a verified package or signed release, and only connect a Notion workspace where you are comfortable allowing read, write, and destructive actions after explicit confirmation.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

External Script Fetching

Supply Chain

Finding

The skill instructs the agent to install software by piping a remotely fetched script directly into a shell (curl ... | bash). This is dangerous because it executes unverified code from the network with the user's privileges; if the endpoint, transport, CDN, or publisher account is compromised, arbitrary code execution can occur on the host.

Finding

The description says to use this skill for "ANY Notion request" and "Whenever a task involves Notion," which is extremely broad and overlaps with many ordinary requests that merely mention Notion. The manifest does not provide narrower trigger boundaries, exclusions, or negative examples to distinguish when the skill should and should not activate.
